10 Tips For Boys to ROCK Their Senior Portrait Session

First of all- Congratulations! Your final year of high school will fly by in a heartbeat.

One of your first decisions as a senior is to schedule your senior portraits. Guys generally don’t get quite as excited about this rite of passage, so we’ll give you 10 tips to make it as painless as possible.

1. BRING ITEMS THAT SHOW YOUR PERSONALITY

Bring anything that will help add character and personality to your senior portraits—your sports uniform, letter jacket, musical instrument, pet, car, or even your girlfriend! Ask about our custom collages.

2. BRING SEVERAL SHIRTS THAT REFLECT YOUR STYLE

We suggest that one of your shirts be a nice button-down to make Grandma happy. 🙂

3. DON’T WORRY ABOUT POSING!

You don’t need to know how to pose—just act natural, and we’ll guide you through the whole experience. You bring the confidence, and we’ll do the rest!

4. AVOID THE HAT TAN

If you spend your summer in a baseball cap, you may want to leave it off for a week before your session, so your forehead isn’t pasty. However, the only thing worse than a farmer’s tan on your forehead is a red, peeling, blistered nose—so use sunscreen!

5. CHECK YOUR CLOTHES FOR WRINKLES

Wrinkles really show up in photos and can be distracting.

6. LET US KNOW IF YOU’RE DREADING IT!

If you’re really dreading this—like a 50 on a scale of 1–10—let us know. We can get everything we need while keeping the session short and sweet.

7. DON’T WORRY ABOUT BLEMISHES

They’re an easy fix in Photoshop.

8. PLAN YOUR OUTFITS AHEAD OF TIME

Choose your clothes well in advance of your session. If you wait until the day of your session, you probably won’t be happy with the results, and it will show in your photos. Plus, your clothes will probably be dirty and wrinkled. You’ll be grumpy, and Mom will be ready to throttle you.

9. GET SOME SLEEP

Make sure to get a good night’s sleep before your portrait session.
